Trump Revives Presidential Fitness Test for Schoolchildren
- Trump revives the presidential fitness test for students.
- Participation is expected from famous sports figures at the event in the White House.
- The program is aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle among youth.
On July 31, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the revival of the presidential fitness test for students in American schools. This program, first introduced in 1966, included running, physical conditioning, flexibility, and a strength test. In 2012, the test was modified under the Obama administration to focus on individual health rather than athletic achievements.
Trump expressed a desire to ensure that young Americans have the opportunity to lead healthy and active lifestyles. As part of this initiative, a proclamation will be signed at the White House addressing issues related to sports, physical fitness, and nutrition, as well as the fitness test that will be administered by Secretary of Health Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
The program will test children who achieve the highest scores, receiving presidential recognition. After 2012, the test was replaced by the Youth Fitness program, which focused on individual health for students.
At the event, which will take place on Thursday, the attendance of famous sports figures is expected, including golfer Bryson DeChambeau, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, and former New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor. Many of these athletes have close ties to the president and actively support his initiatives.
