- Momoa's son will also appear in the film, which is set to be released soon
Jason Momoa has shaved his beard for the first time in six years, preparing for filming in the third installment of the "Dune" series. The 45-year-old actor will reprise his role as Duncan Idaho in the new film, directed by Denis Villeneuve.
In a video shared on Instagram, Momoa explained that he hasn't shaved his beard in more than five years. "Just for you, Denis," he said, shaving his hair electrically. "Dude, I’m not a fan of this," he added, looking at his new look.
In 2021, Momoa played Idaho, a sword master and mentor to Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) in the film "Dune." Although the character dies at the end of the film, he is set to return in the second book of Frank Herbert's "Dune" as a clone. Villeneuve is adapting this book for the final part of his trilogy.
Momoa confirmed his return to "Dune" in April, stating that "it’s going to be fun to make a comeback." When asked if he would follow his role in the third film of the book series, he replied that it is not guaranteed, nor does it imply a return to the storyline with a potential spoiler.
The actor also mentioned that his 16-year-old son Nakoa-Wolf will also join the cast of "Dune: Part Three." Momoa emphasized that he supports his son in his independent journey. "It’s going to be good. He did it himself," he said, noting that he wants his kids to be better than him.
