US President Donald Trump expressed a desire for Russia's war against Ukraine to end by September 8. This was announced by the US alternate representative to the UN, John Kelly, during a meeting of the UN Security Council.
Kelly noted that both parties, Russia and Ukraine, should be willing to agree on a ceasefire and a lasting peace. He emphasized that the time for concluding a peace agreement is approaching.
Trump made it clear that these actions must be completed by September 8. The USA is ready to implement additional measures to ensure peace.
Trump's Ultimatum
On July 14, Trump stated that if Russia does not end the war with Ukraine within 50 days, his country will impose 100% tariffs on key trading partners of Moscow. On July 29, the US president shortened the term to 10 days, which means that Russia could be cut off from the sanctions.
Against the backdrop of these events, on July 30, Trump imposed tariffs against India through its trade with Russia and the purchase of Russian weapons.
In addition, the focus is increasing on the Eastern European region, where Trump may impose significant economic agreements in exchange for ending the war in Ukraine. This has sparked discussions among experts and diplomats regarding the possible easing of sanctions against Russia.
Earlier, Trump established a 50-day term for Russia, but with the agreement to shorten it to 10 days due to a lack of progress. If Russia does not respond to the demands, the USA may introduce additional measures, such as secondary tariffs and new sanctions.
