Attack by Skibin brings victory on the sixth stage of the Tour de France Femmes

On the sixth stage of the Tour de France Femmes, Maiva Skiban from Brittany secured victory, completing a solo 32-kilometer climb through the forests leading to the Lavrado-Fore National Park towards Ambert.

The 23-year-old athlete from Brest, competing for the UAE Team ADQ, attacked three kilometers from the summit of Col du Chancer and managed to maintain her lead during the fast descent, passing the bonus sprint and finishing straight on Boulevard Henri IV.

"When they told me I had a minute and a half lead, I couldn't believe it," she said after the finish. Skiban became the second French woman to win a stage since the revival of the women's Tour de France in 2022.

After her, the leader of the race Kim Le Court, striving to maintain her position, secured several seconds in the bonus sprints. She continues to lead the overall standings, ahead of Pauline Ferrand-Prévot by 26 seconds and Kasia Niewiadoma by 30 seconds.

This stage included a 2475-meter elevation gain across four categorized climbs, which resulted in significant time gaps in the group. Only 132 of the 154 starters remained in the race, unlike the previous three mountain stages.

The next stage, which will take place on August 2, will run from Bourg-en-Bresse to Chambery and features a climb up Col du Granier, which may pose challenges for the racers.
