Severe rains and dangerous flooding are anticipated in the Northeast U.S. According to the National Weather Service, areas could receive rainfall from Virginia to Connecticut, with the heaviest precipitation expected on Thursday. In New Jersey, Governor Phil Murphy has declared a state of emergency, urging residents to be cautious.
It is expected that in some areas, rainfall could reach 2 inches (5 cm) per hour, while in certain locations – up to 8 inches. In connection with this, a warning has been issued for the counties of Berks, Lancaster, and York. Similar warnings are also applicable to the counties of Baltimore and Hartford in Maryland.
In New York, authorities have warned about possible street and basement flooding, urging residents to prepare for potential evacuations from low-lying areas. They also recommend avoiding travel from Thursday to Friday, when the heaviest rain is expected.
Severe conditions have been prepared for in New Jersey, where they also expect wind gusts to reach 97 km/h and higher. Authorities urge residents to follow advisories and maintain emergency preparedness.
