Jeremy Strong to Star as Mark Zuckerberg in Facebook Film

  • Jeremy Strong may portray Mark Zuckerberg in the new film.
  • The film will examine recent controversies surrounding Facebook.
  • Aaron Sorkin will be the author of the screenplay and director of the sequel.

Jeremy Strong, an actor known for his role in the series Succession, is the leading candidate for the role of Mark Zuckerberg in the sequel to the film The Social Network. According to information from Deadline and Variety, while an official offer has not yet been made, Strong is the most popular choice for the role of Facebook's founder.

The screenplay for The Social Network Part II is being written and directed by Aaron Sorkin. He plans to explore not only the history of Facebook's creation but also recent controversies related to the social network. The new plot will be based on the articles The Facebook Files from the Wall Street Journal, which reveal internal problems within the company.

In the new film, in addition to Strong, there may also be appearances by Jeremy Allen White and Mike Madison in other significant roles. It is known that White could portray Jeff Horowitz, the journalist who wrote these articles, while Madison plays Frances Haugen, the whistleblower who revealed information about the harms from Facebook.

The first film, The Social Network, which was released in 2010, won three Oscars and became a commercial success, earning $224 million worldwide.

Zuckerberg, in turn, expressed critical remarks about the portrayal of his character in the first part, noting that many details were exaggerated.

Strong, who received a nomination for an Oscar this year for his role in the film The Apprentice, is preparing for new projects, among which is a biography of Bryan Springsteen.
