NBA Commissioner Adam Silver met with representatives of Real in Paris, discussing the possibility of the club participating in the new European NBA league. The meeting will take place on July 31, 2025, and is part of a series of negotiations taking place in Europe to attract investors and teams.

Real Madrid, which has a license in Euroleague, is considering the possibility of joining the new project, which may involve other Euroleague clubs. Real's license expires in 2026, and participation in the new league could spur other teams to transition.

At the same time, LeBron James and his team are discussing the launch of a new international league with 12 teams, which will include both men's and women's teams. This league, which is to work in a tournament format, will allow players to receive ownership stakes, which is not permitted by the NBA.
