Tom Brady Evaluates the Situation in Birmingham and the Team
- Tom Brady emphasizes the need for change in the Birmingham team.
- Birmingham won the title in the League One and returned to the Championship.
- The club demonstrates increasing interest from fans with record sales of memberships.
This is reported by L'Équipe, Marca.
Tom Brady, seven-time Super Bowl champion and new minority owner of Birmingham City, speaks about the challenges the club faces in the Championship. After a successful season with promotion to the league, Brady notes that past success does not guarantee new achievements. He stresses that to achieve success, it is necessary to allocate even more resources, especially as competition increases.
In the documentary series "Built in Birmingham: Brady & the Blues," which premiered on Prime Video, Brady shares his impressions of the club and its culture. He also raises questions about the team, stating that most players need change, as their previous approach was "lenient" and "privileged." Brady reflects on the ethics of the work of former coach Wayne Rooney. Rooney, appointed to the position in September 2023, left the club less than three months later, during which the team was relegated to the zone of relegation.
Despite these challenges, Birmingham is already showcasing ambition at the start of the new season. Under the new coach, Chris Devine, the team won the title in League One and returned to the Championship. Brady and club president Tom Wagner are looking forward to a return to the Premier League, also considering that this will be an important step for the development of the club and its stakeholders.
Wagner also reported on record membership sales, noting that this season 20,000 memberships were signed, with a queue of 15,000 people. This indicates the growing interest in the club among fans.
