Ukraine calls for an emergency UN meeting after the attack on Kyiv
- The UN meeting will take place on August 1 in response to the shelling.
- As a result of the attack on Kyiv, 16 people were killed, including a child.
- The Minister of Foreign Affairs called for a united front against Russia.

Ukraine has appealed to the UN with a request to convene an emergency meeting of the Security Council following the recent strike by Russia on Kyiv, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha reported.
The meeting will take place on August 1, during which issues of peacekeeping and security in Ukraine will be discussed.
Sybiha noted that the President of Russia Vladimir Putin is undermining peace negotiations and intends to continue the war. He emphasized that international cooperation has the potential to halt this path through united action and principled positions on the need for immediate and unconditional cessation of hostilities.
"The UN meeting tomorrow evening will become a platform for a clear expression of such firm positions," Sybiha added.
Attack on Kyiv
On the night of July 31, the Russian army launched a massive attack on Ukraine, using 309 strike drones and all types of missiles "Iskander-K".
One of the main targets of the attack was Kyiv. As a result of the strike, a section of a residential building was destroyed in the Sviatoshynskyi district.
According to the latest information, 16 people have been confirmed dead, including one child, a six-year-old boy.
