Real Madrid Lost Court Case Regarding Postponement of Season Start
- Real Madrid will begin their season on August 19 against Osasuna.
- The court rejected the club's request for a postponement of the start.
- The players of Real received 21 days off after the Club World Cup.
The Real Madrid team will start their season on August 19 against Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. This decision was the result of the club's previous legal action with La Liga regarding the possibility of postponing the start of the 2025/26 season.
The club hoped to delay the season start, as their players did not have enough time for rest after the elimination from the Club World Cup on July 9, where they lost to Paris Saint-Germain. The Real players will return to training in Valdebebas on August 4, which gives them only 15 days of preparation before the first match.
In their statement, Real Madrid required "a reasonable period for physical and tactical preparation, which usually is no less than three weeks." However, the RFEF court rejected this request, noting that the club received 21 days off according to the collective agreement.
The court ruled that since the matches of the Club World Cup were known in advance, Real cannot claim that this was an unforeseen situation. The court also noted that Real Madrid has 48 hours to file an appeal against the decision.
