Creation of a New James Bond Film Continues
- Steven Knight has been appointed to write the screenplay for the new James Bond film.
- Dennis Villeneuve will direct the film, which will be produced under the Amazon MGM banner.
- The casting for the role of 007 remains open, as actors have not yet been confirmed.
British screenwriter Steven Knight was chosen to write the screenplay for the upcoming film about James Bond. The director of the film will be Denis Villeneuve, known for his work on Dune.
According to information from Deadline, Knight received this job after meeting with Villeneuve, having previously dismissed other candidates. Knight, who is 65 years old, is known for his work on the popular series Peaky Blinders and other projects such as Eastern Promises and Locke.
This film will be the first since the rights to the franchise were transferred to Amazon MGM. The agreement secured the company "creative control" over Bond projects.
It is still unknown who will play the role of 007. Earlier, it was reported that among the candidates are actors such as Tom Holland, Henry Diakison, and Jacob Elordi. However, actor Taron Egerton has excluded himself from the potential candidates, calling this opportunity "a stolen chance."
Villeneuve expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating that it is a great responsibility and an extraordinary honor. He and producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman plan to bring Bond back to the screen with new adventures. The premiere of the film is expected no earlier than 2028.
