The USA Accused China of Supporting Russia's Aggression

At a meeting of the UN Security Council, the United States accused China of enabling Russia's military buildup, which continues its aggression against Ukraine. The statement was made on July 31, 2025, by John Kelly, the acting deputy representative of the USA to the UN.

Kelly noted that while China does not directly supply weapons to Russia, it has become a key supplier for the Russian military industry. China provides significant supplies of machinery, microelectronics, optics, technology for unmanned aerial vehicles, and missiles, as well as nitrocellulose, which is used for the production of propellant.

Kelly emphasized that while China genuinely seeks to assist in peacekeeping efforts, it is likely to stop supplying these critically important components to Russia. In addition, he drew attention to the role of North Korea and Iran in supporting Russia's aggression. According to him, North Korea supplies Russia with artillery shells, missiles, and military equipment, while Iran provides ballistic missiles and technology for drones.

This assistance violates several resolutions of the UN Security Council and threatens peace and security in Europe and beyond. Kelly also stated that US support for Ukraine cannot be compared to the supply of arms from Russia, which allows it to continue its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

In response to the accusations from the USA, the deputy permanent representative of China to the UN, Gen Shuan, claimed that China is not the creator of the Ukrainian crisis and does not supply lethal weapons to either side of the conflict. He also emphasized that China maintains normal trade relations with both Russia and Ukraine, which does not violate international law.

Gen urged the USA to stop the accusations and instead focus on creating favorable conditions for peaceful negotiations and de-escalation of the conflict. He noted that resolving the Ukrainian crisis requires unity and cooperation, not division and confrontation.
