Biden Emphasizes the Importance of Judicial Independence in the USA
- Biden stressed the importance of judicial independence.
- The former president called for the fight for equality and justice.
- The speech was a response to criticism of his state of health.
Former U.S. President Joe Biden spoke at the 100th anniversary of the National Association of Attorneys in Chicago, dedicated to the protection of civil rights in America.
In his speech, Biden emphasized that the country is going through critical times, when marginalized groups are facing serious attacks. He noted that it is important to preserve judicial independence from government power, as it ensures justice in society.
Biden stated, "we stand with the harsh truths," pointing to the aggressive policies of the previous administration regarding immigrants and other marginalized groups. He called for the fight for justice and equality, and also mentioned the significant contribution of Black attorneys to civil rights.
Biden's speech was a response to criticism of his physical and mental health, as well as attacks from Republicans, who are questioning his cognitive decline. Biden did not directly mention Donald Trump, but his words implied criticism of the actions of the Trump administration, which, in his view, undermine the foundations of democracy.
He also urged Americans to unite in the fight for the future, emphasizing the necessity to protect the fundamental rights of all citizens.
