SEATTLE (AP) — The president of the Seattle Mariners, Jerry Dipoto, announced the new acquisitions for the team after the trade deadline, during which the club acquired third baseman Eugenio Suárez and first baseman Josh Naylor.

Suárez, known for his power, returned to the Mariners from Arizona as part of a deal that included the exchange of three young players. He has 36 home runs this season and leads the league in RBI count, tied with Cal Raleigh from Seattle.

The deal with Naylor was finalized just days before this, when Dipoto expected that the new players would help the team become a serious contender for the title. Seattle, which is currently in the playoff zone, has strengthened its roster, adding power to an already potent lineup.

Dipoto noted that this is the best roster he has seen during his time with the club since 2015, emphasizing that the team has the potential to succeed in the playoffs.

However, both new players will have contracts through the end of the season, which brings certain risks. Dipoto expressed hope that their presence on the field will help the team secure the title of world champion. He also mentioned that the team needs a solid roster depth that includes a mix of stars and solid contributors.
