This is reported by Ukrayinska Pravda, Interfax Ukraine.
The Senate committee has approved the budget project for the 2026 fiscal year, which includes $1 billion in aid for Ukraine. This decision was made despite the opposition from some members of Donald Trump's administration to exclude this funding from the budget.
The budget project totals $852 billion, with support from 26 senators, while only three opposed it. This budget proposal must now be reviewed by the full Senate.
Senator Mitch McConnell noted that not only the previous administration but also the current one must continue to support Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of ongoing support for Ukraine, asserting that withdrawing from participation in the conflict would weaken U.S. military credibility.
Additionally, a group of senators has introduced a new budget proposal that provides over $50 billion in aid to Ukraine over the next two years. This proposal includes $30 billion for military aid until 2027 and $3 billion in funding for foreign military operations.
Among other provisions - the use of revenues from frozen Russian assets, the transfer of confiscated property, and funding initiatives with manufacturers jointly with Ukraine and Taiwan. It also allocates $600 million for supporting human rights organizations in Ukraine and $50 million for the prosecution of military crimes.
These budget proposals underscore bipartisan support for Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict with Russia.
