This is reported by The Yomiuri Shimbun, Asharq Al-Awsat.
On August 1, 2025, Nintendo announced sales of over six million units of Switch 2 in the seven weeks following its launch on June 5. This indicates high demand for the new console. According to the words of the analyst from the consulting company Kantan Games, Serkana Toto, six million sold units reflect significant demand for the updated version of the popular Switch.
The company also reported that the operating profit in the second quarter increased by 4% to 56.9 billion yen (378 million dollars), surpassing analysts' forecasts. Despite the trade challenges in the USA and changes in market conditions, Nintendo does not anticipate a significant impact on its financial performance.
In the period from April to June, Nintendo realized 8.67 million units of software for Switch 2, among which the popular game "Mario Kart World". Also, on July 17, a new game "Donkey Kong Bananza" was released, which received high ratings on Metacritic.
The company maintained its sales forecast of 15 million units of Switch 2 for the fiscal year, which ends in March 2026, and plans to leverage the success of new releases to support sales during the holiday season.
