Trump Continues the Fight Against Renewable Energy
- Trump actively opposes the development of renewable energy in the USA.
- The reduction of support for clean energy could lead to an increase in greenhouse gas emissions.
- China continues to develop wind and solar installations, leaving the USA behind.
The administration of US President Donald Trump continues its policy aimed at reducing support for renewable energy, which has serious consequences for the climate. Trump expresses his disdain for wind energy, calling them "intermittent." Not long ago, during a press conference in Scotland, he stated that "wind energy is a disaster."
Trump actively criticizes programs that support the development of clean energy. He has blocked new projects for renewable energy on federal lands and has cut tax credits that previously encouraged investment in this sector. As a result, it is expected that the amount of new renewable energy capacity in the USA will decline over the next decade.
Moreover, Trump is trying to ban the idea that greenhouse gas emissions threaten public health. This could lead to a reduction in the potential for regulating emissions, which would significantly hinder the fight against climate change.
It is noted that the USA, being the second largest emitter of carbon dioxide in the world, could add to the atmosphere nearly 7 billion tons of additional greenhouse gases over the next five years, shifting towards the use of gas and coal instead of clean sources of energy. China, on the contrary, is actively developing wind and solar installations, which puts the USA in a precarious position in the global clean energy market.
Along with experts, such actions of the Trump administration could significantly impact climate policy not only in the USA but also worldwide. Solutions to global climate problems depend on the choices made by countries, and this could determine the economic future of leading nations.
