Former President of South Korea Yoon Suk-yeol again refused to participate in the questioning of the investigators, staging a new method of protest: he announced his personal attire and lied on the floor of his chamber.
Yoon, who was removed from office in April due to the introduction of martial law, was returned to questioning last month. He is under investigation in the case of the protest and other allegations. Prosecutors are trying to establish whether Yoon and his friend had an undue influence on the elections in 2022.
The team of special prosecutor Min Joon-ki received a court order for the preliminary delivery of Yoon for questioning, but he refused to fulfill the requirement. Prosecutors stated that due to a lack of grounds for coercion, they did not apply physical force.
Yoon and his lawyers assert that he has serious health problems that hinder his participation in the questioning. They noted that he suffers from cardiac, neurological, and visual impairments, which may threaten his sight due to a lack of medical treatment.
It is noted that the introduction of martial law by Yoon, which lasted only a few hours, was immediately rescinded by parliament.
Yoon asserts that his actions were an attempt to gain public support in the fight against the "evil" opposition party.
