Lauderdale, Florida — Mohammad Nawaz took three wickets in one over, helping Pakistan secure a 14-run victory over West Indies in the T20 series that began on Thursday.

Pakistan, who batted first, scored 178 runs for six wickets. The highest contribution came from Shai Hope, who scored 57 runs off 38 balls.

Debutants for West Indies, Johnson Charles and 18-year-old Yuel Andrew, started well, scoring 35 runs each, but after the 12th over, when Nawaz took the wicket of Andrew, the team lost 4 wickets for 5 runs.

West Indies captain Shai Hope also struggled to lead his team, scoring only 2 runs. Hope was dismissed as a result of his own shot, both with the bat and with the ball.

West Indies aimed to quickly reduce the deficit after the powerful performance of Jason Holder, who scored 30 runs off 12 balls, with the final score being 164-7.
