The American singer Justin Timberlake reported that he has been diagnosed with Lyme disease. The 44-year-old singer acknowledged that he has been struggling with this disease for several years.

In his social media post, Timberlake indicated that he does not want to feel sorry for himself, but rather to shed light on what he is dealing with. "I have been fighting some health issues, and I was diagnosed with Lyme disease, which I won’t say for you to feel sorry for me, but to bring light to what I’m dealing with," he wrote.

The singer noted that it became clear to him why he felt such strong pain and fatigue during performances. "I was shocked when I found out about the diagnosis. But, primarily, now I understand why I was on stage with such strong nerve pain or felt completely drained," added Timberlake.

This statement came during his two-year global tour "Forget Tomorrow," during which the singer faced criticism for having less energetic performances. Timberlake noted that he had doubts about continuing the tour due to health issues but decided not to stop. "The joy that performing brings me outweighs the temporary stress that my body feels. I’m glad I continued," he emphasized.

Throughout the tour, the artist had already canceled or postponed concerts due to bronchitis, laryngitis, throat spasms, and chocolate allergies. But only now has he revealed the real reason behind his fatigue. Timberlake also mentioned that he has always been raised in traditions of addressing similar issues openly, but he decided to be more transparent so that his struggle would not be misinterpreted.

Initially, Lyme disease is an infection that is transmitted through the bites of infected ticks, and in the early stages, it manifests with symptoms similar to the flu, such as headaches, fatigue, joint pain, and fever.

Timberlake thanked his family for their support during the fight against the disease, including his friend Jessica and son Silas. Friends of the singer, including his NSYNC colleague Chris Kirkpatrick, expressed their support for Timberlake, highlighting his strength and resilience throughout the tour.
