- The new Wales coach Steven Tandy received positive news.
Louis Rees-Zammit announced his decision to return to rugby after 18 months spent in the National Football League (NFL). The athlete signed a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars for the 2025 season, after being part of their training squad in 2024.
In January 2024, having played 32 matches for the Wales team, Rees-Zammit decided to stay in rugby to try his strength in the NFL through the International Player Pathway program. He did not manage to play any games for the Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars, limiting himself only to training.
In his announcement on Instagram, the athlete stated: "I decided to stay in the NFL and return to rugby! It was a wonderful experience, but the time has come to return home. I am eagerly waiting to be able to play rugby again."
This news has become a positive moment for the new head coach of Wales, Steven Tandy, who recently took over the team that suffered an 18-match losing streak against Japan. Rees-Zammit plans to return to the game to once again represent the Wales team.
