Rescuers save animals after missile strike on Kyiv

On August 1, 2025, the rescue service of Ukraine confirmed that during the rescue operations in Kyiv, they managed to free several animals from the rubble of a multi-storey building that was destroyed. This building was hit by a missile strike that occurred at night on July 31.
Among the rescued animals were two cats, a dog, a parrot, and a rabbit. One of the cats was found alive, trapped between concrete slabs on the fifth floor, while the other was rescued in the morning, having been left without family as a result of the attack. Both cats were dehydrated but alive.
The rescue service also reports that rescuers continue to work at the site, searching for animals that remain trapped under the rubble. According to the activists, in the ruins there may still be at least 12 cats, a dog, and a parrot. Some of the animals have already been returned to their owners, while others are receiving medical assistance.
As a result of the missile strike on Kyiv, 31 people died, including five children. Over 150 people were injured, and a significant number of buildings were damaged, including residential buildings and medical facilities.
