A Drone Found in Lithuania That Came from Belarus

  • A drone was discovered at a military polygon in Lithuania on August 1.
  • It is likely a Russian-made Gerakl drone.
  • The Lithuanian military has strengthened the defense on the border with Belarus.

This was reported by Ukrayinska Pravda, RBC Ukraine.

On August 1, 2025, a drone (BPLA) that crossed the airspace of Lithuania from the territory of Belarus was found at a military polygon in Lithuania. This incident occurred on July 28 when local residents reported observing a drone in the border area.

The Minister of National Defense of Lithuania, Arvydas AnuĊĦauskas, confirmed that the BPLA is likely a Russian-made Gerakl, which is used for reconnaissance of air defense systems. It was discovered at the Haisunai polygon in the Jonava district during a search operation.

Details of the incident indicate that the BPLA may have entered Lithuanian territory due to the influence of Ukrainian electronic warfare systems. The Lithuanian armed forces have already relocated part of their air defense forces closer to the border with Belarus to enhance security.

This incident is another similar occurrence in recent months. Earlier, on July 10, another drone was secured in Lithuania, which also crossed the airspace from Belarus. At that time, the Lithuanian military was forced to involve fighters for response to the threat.

The Lithuanian military confirmed that further actions regarding the identified BPLA will be conducted to determine its safety.
