Trade Deadline: The Minnesota Twins Make Moves, Houston Returns Correa
- The Twins traded away over 40% of their roster at the deadline
- Correa returned to the Astros, who picked up part of his salary
- The Twins received several promising prospects in exchange for their stars
On September 1, 2025, the day of the trade deadline in MLB, the Minnesota Twins decided to drastically change their roster. In the last few days leading up to the deadline, the Twins completed nine trades, resulting in over 40% of the team being sold off. Notably, Carlos Correa returned to the Houston Astros, signing a 6-year contract worth $103 million, of which $70 million is covered by the Astros.
Significant changes also occurred in the Twins’ roster, as the team released players like Joe Hoan Duran and Ty France, as well as several other key contributors. The team's president, Derek Falvey, stated that these decisions were necessary for investing in the future of the team.
Meanwhile, the Astros, who have become one of the biggest buyers in the market, not only welcomed back Correa but also added new players, such as Jesus Sanchez. This allows them to strengthen their position ahead of the playoffs.
The trade deadline this year highlights the activity of teams looking to improve their chances of success, while the Twins, who did not manage to achieve success last season, opted to send players for sale.
