Special Envoy of the USA Delivered Humanitarian Aid Point in Gaza
- Steve Vitkoff delivered a GHF humanitarian aid point in Gaza.
- The visit was accompanied by criticism from local residents.
- New negotiating processes with Israel are being discussed.
Special Envoy of the USA to the Middle East, Steve Vitkoff, delivered a humanitarian aid distribution point, supported by the USA and Israel, in Gaza. This event took place against the backdrop of the humanitarian crisis in the region, where mass starvation is being observed.
Vitkoff was in attendance alongside the US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, as well as representatives of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). Huckabee noted that the aim of the visit was to "bring the truth" about the operations of the Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF). According to information provided by OON, as a result of the conflict in the region, at least 859 Palestinians have died, while GHF disputes these figures.
Vitkoff and Huckabee delivered one of the GHF aid points near Rafah. Huckabee stated that GHF provides "more than a million meals a day," while OON asserts that this quantity does not cover the general food needs.
Local residents critically assess Vitkoff's visit, stating that he is a "mediocre trickster." They point out that such aid does not resolve the fundamental problems faced by Gaza. Meanwhile, as reported by the civil defense agency Hamas, at least 10 people were killed as a result of Israeli airstrikes in southern and central parts of Gaza.
Vitkoff also met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. They discussed issues related to new negotiations on the cessation of hostilities, which foresee the exchange of all hostages held by Hamas in one exchange.
Hamas stated that it will not return to negotiations until there is no longer a humanitarian aid blockade to Gaza. The USA and Israel have exited negotiations last week, accusing Hamas of inadequate coordination and lack of goodwill.
