STRASBOURG, France — Premier League club Chelsea has loaned 19-year-old defender Mamadou Sarr back to his former club Strasbourg for the Ligue 1 season.

The French club confirmed the deal on its website, stating that Sarr was purchased by Chelsea on July 9 for 14 million euros. In the previous season, he was a key player, appearing in 27 matches in Ligue 1, helping Strasbourg secure the seventh place.

Sarr is also an international player for the French U20 team and has 2 matches for the team. He previously played for Lyon. Strasbourg, which belongs to a consortium led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, will start its season on August 17 with a match against Metz.

It is worth noting that Chelsea won the Championship League last season and is now competing in the Premier League after finishing fourth in the previous season.
