Trump issued an ultimatum to Russia and reacted to Putin

  • Trump gave Russia 50 days to end the war with Ukraine.
  • Putin confirmed that Russia's position regarding Ukraine remains unchanged.
  • Experts state that the situation in Ukraine is improving due to the supply of weapons.

This is reported by RBC Ukraine, Ukrayinska Pravda.

On August 1, 2025, Trump stated that the USA intends to impose new sanctions against Russia if President Vladimir Putin does not agree to end the war with Ukraine. In his ultimatum, he gave Moscow 50 days to reach a resolution.

Although Trump wanted to change the conditions of the ultimatum, reducing the term to 10-12 days, expert Taras Zakhorodnyi believes that this does not have a significant impact on the situation in Ukraine. He noted that the supply of weapons continues, and pressure on Russia is increasing. For example, Germany has already transferred Patriot missile systems to Ukraine.

Zakhorodnyi also emphasized that Russia has serious financial problems, including a budget deficit, which turns out to be 8 times larger than planned. The Ukrainian army is actively striking at supply lines and infrastructure, which also impacts the Russian economy.

In response to Trump's ultimatum, Putin stated that the disappointment felt by some is related to unrealistic expectations. He confirmed that Russia's position has not changed since the moment of his ultimatum in 2024, which included demands for Ukraine to withdraw from NATO and recognize Moscow's territorial pretensions.

Thus, the situation remains tense, and both sides continue to exchange statements and ultimatums without making significant progress in negotiations.
