The names of the siblings who drowned in Spain have been revealed

  • Amaya and Ricardo Junior drowned at the beach in Spain.
  • The children's father rescued them, but he is in the hospital.
  • The tragedy occurred during a family vacation in Salou.

The British siblings who drowned while on vacation in Spain have been named. Amaya Del Brocco, 13 years old, and her brother Ricardo Junior, 11 years old, drowned at Llarga beach in the Tarragona province on Wednesday evening.

The tragedy happened when the children went swimming with their father. According to the children's aunt, during their swim, they were swept away by a strong current. The children's mother said that they were not supposed to be out too far, and she sent the younger one to the bathroom. When she returned, there was no sign of them.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 20:45 local time. Despite rescuers' efforts, the children could not be saved. The father, Ricardo Senior, rescued from the water, is currently in serious condition in the hospital.

According to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain, they are providing support to the family of the deceased children and are maintaining contact with local authorities.

The children's cousin, Holly Markies-Johnson, described them as "two beautiful, clever, and deeply loved children," whose lives were cut short far too soon. She also created a fundraising campaign to help the family.
