Shooting in a Nightclub in Puerto Rico Claimed the Life of a Teenager

• One teenager was killed, and five others were injured.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — A shooting at a nightclub in western Puerto Rico on Friday resulted in the death of one teenager, while five others sustained injuries, including two women in critical condition, human rights advocates reported.

The victims of the shooting in the nearby town of Mayaguez were aged between 18 and 21 years. The deceased teenager was identified as 19-year-old Jonatan Cruz Gonzalez.

The motives for the shooting have not yet been clarified. No suspects have been arrested.

This year, in the territory of the United States in the Caribbean, at least 257 homicides have been recorded, which is fewer than the 308 in the same period last year.
