Prominent Israeli Author David Grossman Accuses of Genocide in Gaza
- Grossman uses the term "genocide" to describe the situation in Gaza.
- He expressed concern regarding the pairing of the words "Israel" and "hunger".
- The author calls for the creation of two states as a resolution to the conflict.
Renowned Israeli writer David Grossman referred to the campaign in his country in Gaza as "genocide." He noted that this term is used from a "white perspective."
These comments came after two major human rights organizations in Israel also labeled the situation in Gaza as genocide. Grossman recalled that previously he refrained from using this term, but after seeing the images and speaking with people who were on the scene, he could no longer avoid it.
"This word - genocide: the more you avoid it, the more it grows, causing even greater destruction and suffering," - said Grossman. He emphasized that the pairing of the words "Israel" and "hunger" is "ruinous," considering the history of the Holocaust.
Grossman, who received an award from Israel in 2018 for his literary activity, also stressed that the occupation corrupts Israeli society. He expressed hope for a resolution to the conflict through the creation of two states.
