Russian strikes damage railway station in Sumy

On September 1, 2025, Russian troops carried out a strike on the railway station in Sumy. As a result of the attack, train No. 45 from Kharkiv to Uzhhorod was damaged. According to information provided by Ukrzaliznytsia, as a consequence of the strike, the passenger train was damaged.

All passengers remained safe, and the railway workers promptly transferred them to other carriages. The train continues to proceed according to the schedule. The head of the Sumy regional military administration, Oleg Grygoriev, reported that the strike was carried out by two missiles.

In addition, on the same day, strikes were recorded on energy infrastructure in the Sumy region, as a result of which some consumers were left without electricity. Repair crews are already working to restore the electricity supply.

It is also reported about attacks on residential areas, including one of the strikes hitting a garage and a car. The police are documenting the consequences of the attack, and currently, there is a possibility of opening a criminal case under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
