This is reported by Ukrayinska Pravda, RBC Ukraine.
The Ukrainian marine Oleksandr Kyryienko, who defended Mariupol, reacted to the comments made by American rapper Azalea Banks. She criticized his appearance and weight loss after his return from Russian captivity.
Kyryienko noted that he hopes that those close to Banks do not experience such a "dietary" ordeal. He stressed that torture is a crime.
He expressed support for freedom of speech but noted that the Soviet Union and many mothers often had limits. Kyryienko also recalled the historical tragedies of African Americans, comparing their experiences with his own.
Kyryienko has served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine since 2014. He was captured on April 12, 2022, and spent nearly two years in captivity, returning on February 5, 2025, during a prisoner exchange, having lost 40 kg.
It is worth noting that Banks has previously expressed support for Russia, previously referring to Vladimir Putin as her "favorite supervillain."
