NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed that he supports Germany's decision to provide Ukraine with two additional Patriot systems. He noted that this is an important step for the protection of Ukrainian airspace.
"I welcome Germany's decision to provide two additional Patriot systems to Ukraine. This is wonderful news, and I commend the leadership of Germany! This helps Ukraine protect its airspace, ensure the safety of its people, and deter Russia's aggression," Stoltenberg wrote on social media.
According to information from the German Ministry of Defense, the launch installations will be provided initially, and within the next two to three months, other components of the system will also be delivered to strengthen Ukraine's air defense. These systems will be prepared for operation with the joint effort of partner countries.
As part of the agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense, Germany will receive new Patriot systems, which will be produced in a rapid mode. The financing will be ensured by Germany itself.
