Russian Rocket Strike on Kyiv Claims Civilian Lives

On July 31, Russian forces carried out a massive strike on Kyiv, using drones and cruise missiles. The Minister of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, Iryna Vereshchuk, stated that this attack is a strike against peaceful civilians and a demonstration of the diplomatic impotence of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

As a result of the attack, 31 people were killed, including 28 who became victims of the missile strike on a residential building in the Svitoshyn district. Many of the deceased included five children, who suffered due to the debris from the explosion. Search operations at the site of the incident were completed on September 1.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called this attack one of the most brutal. According to him, 159 people were injured, and the missile strike did not have military objectives, targeting civilian objects instead. He also emphasized that international cooperation supports Ukraine and condemns Russian terrorism.

According to UN data, since July there has been an increase in the number of civilian casualties as a result of Russian attacks. In June, there were recorded 232 killed and 1343 injured, while previous data from July indicates the continuation of this alarming trend.
