Microsoft continues to strengthen its position in the search engine market thanks to Bing. Microsoft's general director, Satya Nadella, has been talking for two years about ambitious plans for Bing's modernization using artificial intelligence, which, according to the company, has yielded results. According to Comscore data, Bing's share of the search market in the USA has increased to 29% from 60% for Google, which is an increase of 2.1 percentage points since the launch of Bing Chat in summer 2023.
In turn, Google has reported a decrease in its market share. According to StatCounter data, Google's global share has decreased by 6.1 percentage points, while in the USA it has dropped by 1.2 percentage points. Microsoft reports an increase in advertising revenue of $1.6 billion, which represents a 13% increase over the last fiscal year.
Regarding the goo.gl URL shortening service, Google has partially withdrawn from plans to deactivate short URL addresses. The links that already had prior warnings about the shutdown will be deactivated on August 25, while other goo.gl links will continue to function. The company emphasized that it recognizes the importance of these links, as they are built into numerous documents and publications.
