Announced the holding of the All-Star Game 2027 at Wrigley
- Wrigley has received the right to host the All-Star Game 2027.
- The stadium has not held such an event since 1990.
- The reconstruction of the stadium cost over 550 million dollars.
The Cubs team has received the right to hold the All-Star Game 2027 at Wrigley Field. Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred announced this during a press conference on September 1, 2025. The stadium has not hosted such an event since 1990, when the Cubs' legendary player Ryne Sandberg played in the home run derby.
Wrigley became the second oldest stadium to host the All-Star Game, having previously hosted such games in 1947, 1962, and 1990. This time, the Cubs are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the stadium, following significant renovations that cost over 550 million dollars.
The Cubs first proposed holding the All-Star Game in 2017, but only received approval recently, after the city of Chicago approved the decision to expand the bleachers and install new elements of the outfield.
The Cubs are preparing for this prestigious event, despite the potential threats associated with the collective bargaining agreement of the baseball league, which concludes in 2026.
