Trump Continues to Battle Tariffs, but Support Increases

  • Support for Trump’s tariff policy is growing among Republicans.
  • Trump's approval rating in the area of foreign trade has dropped to 36%.
  • The latest report on employment indicates a significant increase in new jobs.

President Donald Trump continues to implement his tariff policy, despite the fact that its popularity remains low among the population. However, recent polling indicates that support for his actions among Republicans is increasing.

According to Gallup data, Trump’s approval rating in the area of foreign trade has decreased from 42% in July to 36% in June. At the same time, a CBS poll showed that 61% of respondents believe Trump is too focused on tariffs, while 70% think he is not doing enough to reduce prices on goods.

Research also revealed that Republicans have become less critical of Trump’s tariff policy. Only 28% of them believe he is too focused on tariffs, compared to 34% in April. More than 80% of Republicans believe that tariffs will help the economy in the long term.

However, despite the increasing support among his base, Trump continues to face problems in the economy. The latest employment report indicated that only 73,000 new jobs were created in June, which points to a significant slowdown in job growth. Many voters who supported Trump in the elections have expressed disappointment with his promises to improve the economic situation.

Responding to a question about his economy, Trump stated that he believes that increasing tariffs brings significant revenue to the country, even though polls show that a majority of voters disapprove of his economic policy.
