Charges Filed Against Raul Asensio Over Video Case
- The prosecution is seeking a 2.5-year sentence for Asensio.
- Asensio did not participate in sexual relations, but he was involved in the video distribution.
- Three former Real Madrid players could face up to 7 years in prison.
The Spanish state prosecutor requires a sentence for Raul Asensio, a defender of Real Madrid, two and a half years in prison due to the distribution of a video of a sexual nature involving a minor.
According to the information provided by the prosecutor's office, two former youth team players of Real had sexual relations with a minor girl and another girl, recording this on video without their consent. Asensio, according to the data from the prosecutors, did not participate in these relations, but the video shows his friend, which constitutes a violation of privacy under Article 77 of the Spanish Criminal Code.
The prosecutor also noted that both girls are suffering from post-traumatic stress due to these incidents and demanded compensation in the amount of 5000 euros for each of them. In addition to Asensio, there are still three players under investigation: Andres Garcia, Ferran Ruiz, and Juan Rodriguez, who could face between four to seven years in prison for the distribution of child pornography.
The incident occurred at the club's training ground in southern Gran Canaria in 2023. Throughout the 2024-2025 season, Asensio became the subject of various rumors from the media, but former Real coach Carlo Ancelotti stated that he does not plan to exclude him from the team due to this.
Asensio, who last season played 41 matches for the first team, received his first call-up to the national team of Spain in March. In June, he signed a new contract with Real until 2031, with a buyout clause of 1 billion euros.
