In China, in the city of Suzhou, there was an attack on a Japanese woman who sustained injuries from being hit with a stone during a pedestrian crossing. According to reports from Japanese media, the incident occurred on Thursday evening when the woman was out with her child. The child was not injured, and the mother returned home after receiving treatment at a hospital.

This attack has prompted a documented increase in xenophobic incidents, which are observed both in China and Japan. The attack became the third recorded incident of racism against Japanese individuals in China over the past year. Earlier, Chinese authorities stated that previous incidents had been isolated.

On the same day in Tokyo, two Chinese individuals were injured as a result of racism, and four attackers remained at large. The Chinese embassy in Japan has urged the Japanese authorities to take measures to detain the attackers and ensure the safety of Chinese citizens in Japan.

It is worth noting that in January 2024, there was another incident of racism in China when a 10-year-old Japanese student was killed as a result of an attack. The attacker was charged with murder.

The Tokyo Chamber of Commerce in China expressed documented concerns about the safety of Japanese citizens in China, emphasizing the importance of protecting workers and their families for conducting business in the country.
