Taylor Fritz defeats Gabriel Diallo in the Open Championship of Canada

Toronto — Taylor Fritz, the second-seeded tennis player from the USA, defeated Canadian Gabriel Diallo with a score of 6-4, 6-2 in the third round of the Open Championship of Canada. The match took place on Friday evening.
Fritz, who occupies the fourth place in the world ranking, advanced to the quarterfinals, where he will meet the 19th-seeded Yaroslav Lehechko from the Czech Republic. Lehechko defeated the 15th-seeded Arthur Fils from France with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
In the other half of the draw, sixth-seeded Andrii Rublev from Russia defeated Lorenzo Sonego from Italy 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. Rublev will face Alexander Davidovich Fokina from Spain, who won against Jakub Menšík from the Czech Republic 6-2, 6-4.
Seventh-seeded Frances Tiafoe from the USA defeated Alexander Vukic from Australia 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 and will now meet Aleksej de Minaur, who advanced further after his opponent, superstar Christopher O'Connell, withdrew from the tournament.
The world number one, Carlos Alcaraz, who is the 2023 champion, and second-seeded Jannik Sinner have both withdrawn from this tournament, which concludes on Thursday. Also absent are fifth-seeded Jack Draper and sixth-seeded Novak Djokovic.
