GREENSBORO, North Carolina — Cameron Young emerged in first place, having made two consecutive birdies, but he could not stop play at the Wyndham Championship. The game was suspended due to thunderstorms on Friday, when Young reached 14 strokes below par.

The second round is scheduled to resume on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. Young, who has his sights set on qualifying for the Ryder Cup, emphasized that his goal is to be in New York in September, playing at the Ryder Cup.

Defending champion Aaron Rai, who opened the round with a 63, is in the standings with only one stroke behind, with 13 strokes below par. Other players, such as Max Homa and Sungjae Im, also showed good results, carding 12 strokes below par.

The Wyndham Championship is the last tournament of the regular season, and 70 of the best players will qualify for the postseason. Some players, like Adam Hadwin and Zach Johnson, may end their season if they cannot improve their results.

Gary Woodland made an albatross on the fifth hole, which became the highlight of the day. His result of 64 allowed him to remain in contention for the playoffs.
