Newcastle proposes €80 million for RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko

  • Newcastle made a proposal for Sesko in the amount of €80 million.
  • Manchester United is also interested in signing the player.
  • Sesko's contract with RB Leipzig runs until 2029.

The football club Newcastle United made a proposal in the amount of €80 million for forward RB Leipzig Benjamin Sesko. This proposal consists of €75 million upfront and €5 million in potential add-ons. It was submitted to the club during the last 24 hours.

As reported by The Athletic, Newcastle is considering the possibility of signing the 22-year-old forward, who Alexander Isak is expected to leave the club this summer. The Swedish striker is eager to change teams, regardless of the fact that Newcastle turned down a formal proposal from Liverpool for him in the amount of £110 million.

Interest in Sesko has also been expressed by Manchester United, but the player himself has not yet made a final decision regarding his future. Previously, clubs Arsenal and Chelsea also showed interest in him, but opted for other players for signing.

Sesko's contract with RB Leipzig runs until 2029, following the signing of a new contract last year. It stipulated that he could leave the team under the condition of a proper proposal. Sesko joined Leipzig in 2023 from Red Bull Salzburg and during this time played 87 matches, scoring 39 goals.

Recently, he also represented his national team at Euro 2024, where he scored 16 goals in 41 matches.
