On Saturday, September 2, 2025, doctors in Gaza reported that at least 18 people had died due to shelling by Israeli forces. Among the deceased were individuals searching for their relatives, as the region is experiencing a humanitarian crisis due to restrictions on aid supplies.
According to reports, nine of the deceased were victims of strikes in the central and southern parts of Gaza. Specifically, five people died near the new aid corridor in the city of Rafah. Local doctors confirmed that two relatives who were searching for food in the ruins also became victims of the shelling.
In response to the registration of violence, families of Israeli hostages held a protest in Tel Aviv. They urged the government to do more to secure the release of their loved ones, as the situation with hostages who remain in captivity creates significant anxiety. A special envoy from the U.S., Steve Uitkoff, was present at the protest, having previously visited one of the humanitarian centers in Gaza.
Relatives of hostages are demanding that the U.S. and Israel activate efforts to secure the release of their loved ones, as the negotiations regarding the cessation of hostilities have stalled.
International organizations are warning of a possible famine crisis in Gaza, where, according to UN data, since the start of the conflict, 169 people have died from a lack of food, including children. Experts state that the humanitarian situation is worsening due to the continuation of hostilities.
