- Summer McIntosh tried to challenge for gold, but Ledecka prevailed.
- Ledecka continues to dominate in swimming, adding her seventh world title in this event.
In Singapore, at the World Championships in swimming, the final of the 800-meter freestyle took place, where Katie Ledecka once again proved her superiority, winning the gold medal. This is her seventh consecutive title in this discipline at the world championships, starting from 2013.
Ledecka, who has already won gold in the 1500-meter freestyle at this championship, demonstrated her skills, finishing first, despite strong competition from Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh. The 18-year-old swimmer, who has already won three gold medals in Singapore, aimed to dethrone Ledecka, but was unable to do so.
Ledecka is the most decorated female swimmer in the history of Olympic swimming, having won nine gold medals. She first won gold in the 800-meter freestyle at the Olympic Games in 2012 in London, and since then has continued to dominate in this discipline.
The world championship lasts until Sunday, and on this day, other finals are also scheduled, including in the 50-meter freestyle and mixed relay 4x100 meters.
