The Newcastle United club has finalized the signing of goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on the terms of a one-year loan from Southampton.
The agreement includes a significant loan fee and the possibility of buying the player at the end of the upcoming season.
Newcastle was aiming to sign James Trafford, but he returned to Manchester City, prompting the club to turn to Ramsdale.
The goalkeeper, who previously played for Arsenal, joined Southampton for £25 million and signed a contract until June 2028.
In the previous season, he played 32 matches, but the team was relegated from the Premier League.
Ramsdale worked with Newcastle's trainer Eddie Howe during their shared time at Bournemouth.
Currently, the main goalkeeper for Newcastle remains Nick Pope, but the team also has several other goalkeepers under contract.
Ramsdale expressed satisfaction with the move: "It's great to be here. I've always loved playing at St. James' Park."
Experts note that Ramsdale has experience playing at a high level and can add new elements to the team's game.
