Ukrainian Authorities Report on the Damage to Russia's Submarine Base

  • The damage to the nuclear submarine base has been confirmed by the Ukrainian fleet.
  • The situation is not critical for the execution of combat missions of the Russian fleet.
  • The problem is planned to be resolved with the consideration of logistical challenges.

This is reported by RBC Ukraine, Ukrinform.

The Ukrainian naval forces confirmed the damage to the nuclear submarine base of Russia in Kamchatka following a strong earthquake. The fleet's press secretary, Dmytro Pletenchuk, stated that the situation is not critical for the Russian fleet.

Pletenchuk noted that the damage relates to infrastructure, including the area of the base that is used for servicing submarines. He emphasized that this is a technical problem that does not have a significant impact on the execution of combat missions.

Although servicing submarines is easier at the stationary base, the fleet can continue to carry out its tasks. Pletenchuk also remarked that the damage has been confirmed by reliable sources, but it should not be considered critical.

Earthquake in Kamchatka

It is noted that the base of the Pacific Fleet of Russia in Kamchatka, where most of the nuclear submarines of the country are stationed, was damaged as a result of the earthquake caused by a volcanic eruption. The incident occurred at the Rybachiy base in the area of the Kraseninsky peninsula.
