Giulio Ciccone wins Clasica San Sebastian 2025

  • Ciccone won the Clasica San Sebastian with a lead of nine seconds.
  • This victory became the second for Ciccone in the season.
  • The cyclist returned to competition after recovering from an injury during the Giro.

This is reported by L'Équipe, La Gazzetta dello Sport.

On August 2, 2025, the Italian cyclist Giulio Ciccone from the Lidl-Trek team achieved victory at Clasica San Sebastian. He began his attack on the final climb, 8.7 km to the finish, which allowed him to break away from his competitors. Ciccone finished with a lead of nine seconds ahead of Jan Kristensen (UAE-XRG) and Maximilian Van Gilsem (Red Bull Bora-Hansgrohe), who took second and third places respectively.

This victory became the twelfth in Ciccone's career at the World Tour level. It is also his second victory of this season after his success at the Tour of The Alps. It is worth noting that Ciccone returned to competition after recovering from an injury sustained during the Giro, where he was forced to withdraw after a fall.

The last Italian to win the Clasica San Sebastian was Paolo Bettini in 2003. Ciccone continues to demonstrate high results, taking third place at Lombardia 2024 and second at Liege 2025.
