Kansas City, Missouri (AP) — Wide receiver Rashee Rice of the Kansas City Chiefs reported that he has "completely changed" after the serious accident on the sixth in Dallas, which took place in February 2024. As a result of the incident, several people were injured, and Rice will pay over 1 million dollars as part of an agreement regarding compensation to the injured. He was also suspended for 30 days during which he will serve a conditional term of five years.
Rice spoke about his experience at the training camp, noting that he has learned from his mistakes and is focused on controlling the situation. "I feel 100%. I'm ready to get back on the field with the guys," he said.
Currently, the team is preparing for the season, while Rice may receive a disqualification from the NFL for violating personal conduct policy. It is expected that the punishment will range from four to ten games, but the final decision has not yet been made. Aside from legal issues, Rice suffered a knee injury that forced him to miss a larger part of last season.
Head coach Endy Reid is sticking with the players in the squad amid injuries and player absences. "We are deep in a group of wide receivers. We are gathering to be competitive this year," he noted, emphasizing hopes for a successful season.
Rice has also publicly acknowledged the incident, stating that he will continue to maintain a fast pace and safety on the road. He will continue to work on recovering from the injuries sustained in the accident.
