Reeves Criticizes Corbyn and His New Party in Scotland
- Rachel Reeves is skeptical about the success of the new Corbyn party.
- The Chancellor noted that Labour must change to remain competitive.
- Corbyn received two defeats in the elections, which impacted his reputation.
At the festival in Edinburgh, Rachel Reeves, Chancellor of Great Britain, expressed doubts about the new political project of Jeremy Corbyn. She asserted that voters will again reject him, as has already happened twice in general elections.
Reeves indicated that Corbyn "attempted to destroy my party" during his leadership, which ended with two defeats, including in 2019, when Labour achieved its worst result since 1935.
She emphasized that the new party, which Corbyn founded along with former Labour MP Zarah Sultana, currently does not have a name, but is being promoted under the brand "Your Party."
Reeves stated that the electorate has already twice rejected Corbyn, and she believes that voters will again give a negative assessment of his attempts. She also noted that ongoing problems with the Labour party could lead to non-participation in upcoming elections if there are no changes in politics.
In addition, the Chancellor pointed out that Labour cannot rely on the previous base without changes, as many voters have not returned. She acknowledged that the government has faced criticism for changes in social policy and for certain programs.
Reeves also confirmed that Labour must actively engage its supporters to meet the expectations of voters and not lose support.
