The Gaza Civil Defense reported on Wednesday that 20 people died when a humanitarian convoy overturned on the route of people waiting for aid in the central part of Gaza.

According to the spokesperson of the agency Mahmoud Basal, the tragedy occurred near a gathering point for refugees in Nuseirat when the convoy carrying humanitarian aid overturned while dozens of civilians were waiting to receive aid.

Basal noted that the convoy was traveling on an unsafe route, which had previously been blocked by Israeli troops. In Israel, it was confirmed that they are verifying these reports.

The HAMAS group accused Israel of creating conditions for the delivery of aid to be unsafe, asserting that this leads to chaos and hunger. In their statement, it was mentioned that aid deliveries are forced to pass through areas of starving civilians who are also waiting for the most basic necessities.

This incident occurred against the backdrop of rising tensions in the region, particularly due to Israel's plans for expanding military operations in Gaza, which have sparked international condemnation.
